Terras Gamos means Earth Marriage
An Alchemical Union with the Land
In the time of my faraway ancestors,
the high kings of Ireland….
There lived a devoted relationship between humans and the land.
The high kings knew that the health of the people, animals, and land were inextricably linked. They recognized themselves as sacred stewards.
Every year, they gathered in ceremony to marry the sovereign goddess, solidifying their commitment to protect the land and the people. In return the goddess would grant prosperity and abundance to all beings who lived there
This ceremony was called Banais Ríghi, meaning “wedding of kingship.”
The Terras Gamos land marriage marks the return of this ancient land rite, recognizing the high king and sovereign goddess within us all.
